Chivas USA’s full team and coaching staff, along with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy, were on hand this morning at Disney’s California Adventure to take the 2008 Chivas USA official team photograph. All of Chivas USA’s player roster and technical staff took part in the photo, with players wearing the new Chivas USA uniform. Enjoy!

Chivas USA arrived Friday night in Houston ahead of the Red-and-White’s Western Conference showdown Saturday evening against the Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium.
With a daytime high of 82 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity expected to hit 50 percent by kickoff time, Preki’s men took the opportunity Saturday morning to stretch their legs and acclimate themselves to the Bayou City weather.
Ahead of the match, midfielder Francisco Mendoza, Chivas USA’s all-time leader in fouls suffered vs. the Dynamo, took time to highlight importance of a good start at Robertson Stadium, where the Red-and-White were held scoreless in two meetings between the teams last season:
“Houston is a tough team to play against, especially in their house. But in all our games we’ve gone toe-to-toe with them, we’ve made things difficult for them. Now it’s a question of getting some goals. … We hope that [tonight] is a good night for us and we can turn things around.
Added Mendoza:
“After all the games we’ve played, I think a rivalry has developed to the point that they and we see this game as a Clásico, because of the confrontations we’ve had in Playoffs, in league play. … I think that for [Chivas USA] this is an even bigger Clásico than against the Galaxy.”
Chivas USA faces the Dynamo Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Central Time (5:30 p.m. Pacific). The match can be heard live in Spanish throughout Southern California on W Radio 690, with the TV broadcast tape-delayed at 8:30 p.m. PT on FSN West. Pregame shows on both outlets start 30 minutes before kickoff.
Chivas USA midfielder Francisco Mendoza appears in the May issue of Tu Ciudad magazine, the popular English-language monthly covering the cultural happenings of Los Angeles from a Latino perspective.
The 23-year-old Mendoza is Tu Ciudad’s featured soccer player for the magazine’s ‘Shape Up’ issue, which highlights hot summer sports activities around the city.
A full-color photo of Mendoza, one of Chivas USA’s Originals from the club’s inaugural 2005 season, is accompanied by an interview detailing his experiences with Chivas USA.
The May edition of Tu Ciudad, Your Guide to Latino L.A., is currently available on newsstands throughout Southern California.
El mediocampista de Chivas USA, Francisco ‘Panchito’ Mendoza, de 23 años, hace aparición en la revista Tu Ciudad, el popular mensual en inglés que cubre la actividad cultural de la ciudad de Los Ángeles desde una perspectiva latina, en su edición de mayo, que está actualmente a la venta.
En la sesión de fotos, realizada durante la pretemporada en El Home Depot Center, se destacó la habilidad de Mendoza con el balón. La foto de Panchito en todo color va acompañada por una entrevista realizada con el jugador.
Al partir de la ciudad de Los Ángeles rumbo a Houston, Mendoza Martínez –quien regresó al cuadro titular de Chivas USA el sábado pasada tras una suspensión de un partido– habló del partido de hoy sábado contra el campeón defensor Houston Dynamo:
“Sabemos que el equipo de Houston es un gran equipo, tiene buenos jugadores, aparte de que es un equipo que va mucho al choque, va mucho al contacto al jugador con el balón. En su cancha sí hace pesar un poco más su condición de local.
“Pero los partidos con ellos los hemos jugado al tú por tú, les hemos complicado los partidos, es cuestión de que por ahí caigan los goles. … Muy importante [hoy] va a ser la calma, el jugar sencillamente como lo venimos haciendo el año pasado, eso fue lo que nos dio frutos”.
El originario de El Salto, Jalisco también destacó la rivalidad que existe entre ambos equipos:
“A medida que los partidos han ido pasando, se ha dado una rivalidad a tal grado que yo pienso que tanto ellos como nosotros [Chivas USA] lo vemos como un Clásico, por los enfrentamientos que se han dado dentro de la Liguilla, fuera de la Liguilla… Siento que [para Chivas USA] éste es más Clásico que contra el Galaxy”.
Chivas USA se enfrenta al Dynamo el sábado, 3 de mayo a las 7:30 p.m. hora del Centro (5:30 p.m. de California). El partido se podrá escuchar en vivo en todo el Sur de California a través de W Radio 690 AM, y será transmitido en diferido a partir de las 8:30 p.m. del Pacífico por la cadena televisiva FSN West.

The team worked on a number of different things at training today.
While the field players warmed up and ran through passing drills, the goalkeepers were working with GK Coach Leo Percovich on crosses. Here’s a photo of the three goalkeepers rising for a cross – Brad Guzan in the middle, about to catch the ball, with rookie Lance Parker on the left and Dan Kennedy, a recent signing from Deportivo Iquique in Chile, on the right.
Some of the forwards also ran through some finishing drills.
