Super Clásico Fact of the Day: All-Time Series

With the July 11 Honda Super Clásico against the LA Galaxy just one week away, Chivas USA is looking to pull closer to its in-stadium rivals in the all-time series. Currently, the Red-and-White hold a record of 3-8-5 (W-L-T) in MLS play against the Galaxy, but have gone 3-3-5 since losing the first five matches between the clubs. 

In matches that are technically “home” games for the Red-and-White, like next Saturday’s, Chivas USA is 1-3-3, with the only win coming on Sept. 13, 2007, the last time Chivas USA beat the Galaxy. Interestingly, in Chivas USA “home” games, an average of 2.14 goals have been scored per game (both teams combined), compared to 3.11 goals per game at Galaxy “home” games.

The two clubs have never met in the playoffs, but did face off in the 2005 U.S. Open Cup, a match which the Galaxy won 5-2 on August 3, 2005.
