Super Clásico Fun Facts

Razov Reigns

Chivas USA’s all-time leading goalscorer is, by no coincidence, also the team’s leading scorer against the LA Galaxy. Ante Razov, who has 30 goals all-time for the Red-and-White, has scored six times against the Galaxy, including two game-winning goals.

Midfielder Sacha Kljestan leads the Red-and-White in assists against the Galaxy, with six. Landon Donovan leads the Galaxy against Chivas USA in both categories, with seven goals and six assists.

Head-to-Head

While the Galaxy have an advantage in the all-time series between the clubs, with 8 wins, 3 losses and 4 ties against Chivas USA in MLS play, Chivas USA has held an advantage in the standings, finishing ahead of the Galaxy in each of the last three seasons.

The two teams have never met in the playoffs, and have actually never qualified for the playoffs in the same season: the Galaxy last went in 2005, while Chivas USA missed out, and in each of the last three seasons, the Red-and-White have made the playoffs while the Galaxy have missed the cut.

Tomorrow!

One year ago today, Chivas USA played the LA Galaxy in the Honda Super Clásico, earning a 1-1 tie. Ante Razov scored the Red-and-White’s goal in the 15th minute, while Edson Buddle equalized for the Galaxy in minute 72. The match was goalkeeper Brad Guzan’s final appearance for Chivas USA before his move to Aston Villa of the English Premier League.
