Chivas USA (8-5-3, 27 pts) fell 1-0 tonight to the LA Galaxy (5-3-9, 24 pts) in the second Honda Super Clásico of the year at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California before an electric crowd of 23,409 at The Home Depot Center. Both teams will meet again in the third and decisive Honda Super Clásico of the season on August 29.

The LA Galaxy scored the first goal on a cross from A.J. DeLaGarza, headed by Edson Buddle at the 30th minute of play.

With the result, Chivas USA remains on 27 points and is now in third place in the Western Conference, one point behind the Seattle Sounders and four points behind first-place Houston. Galaxy reached the fourth spot in the Western Conference with 24 points, tied with the Colorado Rapids.

Chivas USA defender Ante Jazic and Galaxy forward Alecko Eskandarian joined Chivas USA midfielder Paulo Nagamura as the only three players in history to play in a Super Clásico for both teams.

Chivas USA defender Bobby Burling made his first league appearance for the Red-and-White this season, after undergoing sports hernia surgery on March 5, less than two weeks before Chivas USA’s season opener. Burling subbed defender Ante Jazic at the 59th minute.

Chivas USA Head Coach Preki, on tonight’s match: “It always hurts to lose, Clásico or no Clásico.  It’s always tough to lose a game.  We’ll be OK.  We still are in a good spot and we still have a lot of games to play. We just got to be better in front of the goal; we got to create some chances.
