Chivas USA held on Monday, Sept. 21, its third annual Fundación Chivas de Corazón Charity Golf Tournament at the Babe Zaharias Course at Pacific Palms Resort in City of Industry. The event included Chivas USA players, team officials, local media members and other guests, and benefited the Fundación Chivas de Corazón USA, Chivas USAs charitable organization that helps provide educational, athletic, and recreational opportunities for the youth of the Greater Los Angeles Area.
Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, Chivas USA of Major League Soccer, and the Los Angeles Unified School District announced today the Career Panel Program, a series of events aimed at encouraging high school students to stay in school and inspiring them to continue their education after graduation. The Career Panel Program officially launched today, Thursday, Sept. 24, with a kick-off event at Santee Education Complex in South Los Angeles immediately preceding the first of the Career Panels.
The Career Panel Program will consist of a total of five events this summer and fall, where thousands of students at LAUSD high schools will hear first-hand accounts from professionals and clients of Pillsbury, a full-service law firm, as well as Chivas USA players and executives, about the important role education has played in their lives. A pilot program held this summer at Franklin High School met with overwhelming success, as nearly 900 students attended the event, and hundreds more attended today’s session at Santee.
Chivas USA, along with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP and the Los Angeles Unified School District, held a press event today at Santee Education Complex to launch the Career Panel Program, a series of events aimed at encouraging high school students to stay in school and inspiring them to continue their education after graduation. Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, as well as Clem Gatmaitan, Chivas USA Chief Financial Officer, William Waller, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP Managing Partner, as well as Richard Chavez, Principal of Santee Education Complex attended the event.

Chivas de Guadalajara captured a 2-0 win over Chivas USA in the first ever ChivaClásico played on U.S. soil tonight at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif. Substitute Omar Arellano scored two late goals to give Guadalajara the win in front of a boisterous and energetic crowd of 22,879.

Both teams traded chances in the first half and into the second before the 74th minute when Arellano finished a low shot off a pass from Sergio Avila. Just minutes later, Arellando struck again, this time receiving a pass from Omar Esparza and beating goalkeeper Jon Conway, who was making his debut in a Chivas USA uniform.
Chivas USA now looks toward its match against the New York Red Bulls this Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. With just six games remaining, the Red-and-White are in the middle of the hunt for a fourth consecutive spot in the playoffs.
