Chivas USA announced on Thursday that it has signed forward Giancarlo Maldonado, a proven goalscorer in the Mexican First Division and with the Venezuelan National Team. Maldonado scored 32 goals in the Mexican First Division with Atlante from 2007-2010, where he won the Apertura 2007 championship, and the 28-year-old striker will be eligible for Chivas USA when the international transfer window opens on July 15, pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Giancarlo is an experienced striker with international experience and the ability to score goals,” said Chivas USA Head Coach Martín Vásquez. “He’s going to make us a better team as we head into the second part of this season.”
