Martín Vásquez post-game quotes

MARTIN VASQUEZ QUOTES

On the match:

“I’m not happy with the result because we need the points.  Playing at home, overall, I thought we played a solid game, we defended very well and I think that in the second half our play was better than the first half. We were able to get good rhythm and had some chances but in the end we were not able to get a result”

On leaving Bornstein and Maldonado out of the starting lineup:

“Because of the travel, because of the play, because we have some depth now, and because we have some guys that are sick, that’s why that decision was made.  We needed a healthy team, or the team that could help us to win this game.  Jonny played 90 minutes, the travel, he’s coming back from an injury, we thought that he could come and help us in the second half.  With Giancarlo, the same, it was like one hundred degrees in Panama and he traveled from Panama to here.  Ben Zemanski had a virus or the stomach flu so overall we had to make some changes and overall I thought that we chose the best team that was going to come in and help us to win the game.”

On taking a desperate attitude into games:

“Every game, especially because all of the others teams in the Western conference are getting the results.  That’s how we approached this game tonight.  I think that the second half, especially, we showed urgency, we were not efficient or effective to get a goal but we have to continue. Our next opponent is Dallas and we have to go there and approach it with the attitude to win the three points.”

On Zach Thornton and Alan Gordon:

“Both of them played well.  I think the shot from Osvaldo Alonso was a huge save, you know that could have been the difference. He came out big. I think he is still bothered by his high ankle sprain but he was solid, he kept the zero. Alan was good for us.  He connected, he was dangerous, he battled, he ran and I thought overall both of them had a very solid game.”

On Mariano Trujillo’s red card:

“I thought they battled, it was the heat of the game and the referee, the official, must have seen something that happened and they made the decision to give the red card.  These things happen, its part of the game.
